Examples of support in media and audiovisual law

We assisted an American platform in the creation of an original series dedicated to a renowned French couturier. As part of this project, we carried out various tasks, including obtaining the necessary legal authorizations for the use of designs from a major brand, as well as clearing the scripts and initial cuts of episodes featuring historical events and the stances of iconic figures.

We were engaged by a major media group to verify the titles of its audiovisual projects (films, series, shows, cartoons, etc.) and video games. We advised the group’s various entities on availability and risks in France (copyright, unfair competition, trademarks, domain names, and trade names) for the proposed titles.

We advised a production company in the making of a film about a French historical figure. Our assistance included performing various tasks, such as securing the necessary legal authorizations for historical props (e.g., flags, old currencies, paintings, etc.) used during the filming. Additionally, we drafted and negotiated a maritime charter agreement to enable part of the filming on a ship, finalized post-production contracts for editing and color grading in France, and provided legal opinions on moral rights under French intellectual property law.

We advised a French copyright collective management organization on strategies involving web surveillance companies. This included analyzing the intellectual property rights to be claimed, drafting a memorandum, and preparing a bailiff’s report regarding infringements by a web monitoring leader. We also prepared counterfeiting seizure actions in preparation of a summons.
