De Gaulle Fleurance advises SUEZ on the acquisition of BIOMETA
De Gaulle Fleurance has assisted SUEZ in the acquisition of BIOMETA, a methanisation unit located in Saint-Crépin-Ibouvillers, in the Oise region, marking a new stage in the group’s development in organic waste recovery and renewable energy production.
Created in 2019, BIOMETA processes almost 20,000 tonnes of organic waste every year. Thanks to a methanisation process, this waste is transformed into biomethane, which is injected into the gas distribution network to cover the energy needs of around 2,000 households, and into digestate, which is used as a natural fertiliser by neighbouring farms.
This acquisition is part of SUEZ’s commitment to strengthening its network of methanisation units in the Hauts-de-France region and accelerating the energy transition. Two BIOMETA operators are also joining the Group to ensure the continuity and development of the operation. This project offers strong prospects for SUEZ, both in terms of energy production and sustainable fertilisation.
SUEZ was advised in this transaction by Sylvie Perrin, Partner, Anne Kuhanathan, Senior Counsel, and Paul Lefevre, Counsel, at De Gaulle Fleurance.
“This transaction illustrates the dynamism of a rapidly changing sector, where environmental, territorial and energy issues are converging. We are delighted to have supported SUEZ in this strategic acquisition, which demonstrates its commitment to a circular and low-carbon economy,” explains Sylvie Perrin, a partner at De Gaulle Fleurance.
