De Gaulle Fleurance announces the appointment of Bruno Deffains as a partner in charge of the business model. This new role forms part of the Group’s commitment to anticipating the profound transformations brought by artificial intelligence, both for the legal profession and for the businesses it advises.

Bruno Deffains will support the strategic planning and implementation of changes to the Group’s business model. In particular, he will help to develop working methods, service offerings and the use of artificial intelligence for the benefit of both staff and clients.

As part of his new role, Bruno Deffains will continue to advise De Gaulle Fleurance Group’s clients on all matters relating to business law: competition law and economics, compensation for economic losses, valuation of strategic assets, market regulation and corporate governance. He carries out these assignments whilst taking into account the new challenges associated with the major transitions currently underway, such as those relating to artificial intelligence and the environment.

This appointment illustrates De Gaulle Fleurance’s ambition to support its clients beyond mere legal expertise, by adopting an approach that integrates law, economics and technology to address the major transformations they face. It is part of a culture of innovation that is one of the hallmarks of the group’s development.

Bruno Deffains, who has been Of Counsel at De Gaulle Fleurance since 2022, is regarded as one of the pioneers of law and economics in France. A Professor at Paris-Panthéon-Assas University, he heads the Master’s programmes in Business Law and Economics and in Law and Economics, as well as the University Diploma in Digital Transformation of Law and LegalTech. He also founded and directs the Competition and Digital Economy Chair. He is an honorary member of the Institut Universitaire de France and chairs the Digital and Justice Commission at Paris Place de Droit.

Bruno Deffains, partner in charge of the business model at De Gaulle Fleurance, states: “Artificial intelligence is not merely changing the tools lawyers use: it is transforming the way value is created. My role will be to help the Group address this transformation systematically, adapt its working methods and develop new services that provide tangible value to its clients.”

May Jarjour, a member of De Gaulle Fleurance executive committee, adds: “Artificial intelligence is redefining our clients’ business models and the expectations they have of their legal advisers. By entrusting this responsibility to Bruno Deffains, we are choosing to integrate economic analysis, technology and innovation even more closely into the heart of our strategy, in order to help our clients make informed decisions in a rapidly changing environment.”
