Partner Michel Matas possesses expertise in various sectors including space law, telecommunications, media, and transportation. He handles both transactional and litigation cases, encompassing aspects of private law, public law, and competition law. Additionally, he has substantial experience in transactional and litigation cases with a strong technical and/or economic focus.

 

Holding a master’s degree in public law and a postgraduate degree in European law from the Institute of European Studies in Strasbourg, he has also served as a teaching assistant in administrative law and constitutional law at the University of Strasbourg.

 

His expertise in public law, European law, and business law enables him to provide clients with essential cross-disciplinary knowledge in regulated sectors, allowing him to advise and represent clients in both public and private law matters, including before judicial or administrative courts, as well as in specific disputes before regulatory authorities (ARCEP, ARCOM, ANFR, ADLC, European Commission, etc.) or arbitral courts.

 

In addition to advising numerous foreign operators, particularly Anglo-Saxon ones, he has significant experience in Africa, where he has worked extensively on projects for the World Bank and has served as counsel to various regulatory authorities such as ARCEP in Gabon and ANRT in Morocco.

 

Michel Matas has worked as partner at an English law firm, where he notably led the telecommunications practice of the Paris office. He has also served as legal director, compliance officer, and member of the Executive Committee of Altice Group, a key player in the telecommunications and media sectors, as well as Indexia Group, a European leader in the design and distribution of services for mobile telephony, multimedia, and the web.

 

He is fluent in French, English, and Spanish and has a good level of proficiency in Italian.
