Laurence Vanderstraete specialises in corporate law, mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures and in OHADA business law (Organisation for the Harmonisation of Corporate Law in Africa) with a focus on African transactions.
She has developed particular expertise in the extractive industry in Africa advising States and international groups on mining and oil projects.
Laurence has experience across a variety of other key sectors on the African continent, including in the fields of energy, telecom, infrastructure and project finance (including Islamic finance structuring).
She is also involved in arbitration proceedings in relation to African parties.
Laurence is also a member of the World Association of Mining Lawyers (WAOML) and of the Belgium-Luxembourg-Africa-Caribbean-Pacific Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture (CBL-ACP).
