De Gaulle Fleurance promotes Esperanza Barrón Baratech to partner

Firm Life 2 April 2026

Esperanza Barrón Baratech has built a solid reputation in the field of international arbitration, particularly in the energy and natural resources sectors. Trilingual (French, Spanish, and English) and with a Franco-Spanish background, she handles numerous arbitration cases involving Latin America and also advises investors from the Middle East in collaboration with De Gaulle Fleurance EMEA, based in Abu Dhabi. Esperanza is recognized for her agility, responsiveness, and determination to fight for every detail of her cases, always in the best interests of her clients.

Esperanza Barrón Baratech possesses a unique expertise in commercial and investment arbitration. Having joined De Gaulle Fleurance in 2024, she practiced for over 10 years at international law firms, handling disputes related to projects in the energy, construction, distribution, and life sciences sectors. She represents both public and private entities. She is regularly appointed as an arbitrator in high-profile cases, particularly those administered by the ICC.

Esperanza Barrón Baratech grew up in Madrid before pursuing her studies in France. A graduate of Sciences Po Paris, she also holds two master’s degrees: one in international economic law from Paris II Panthéon-Assas University and one in Anglo-American business law from Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne University. Her fluency in Spanish, English, and French, combined with her knowledge of the economic and cultural environments of Latin America and Spain, is a significant asset. Latin America is a key region for investments in the natural resources sector.

Eager to share her knowledge, Esperanza Barrón Baratech regularly leads seminars and courses at Sciences Po, where she is actively involved in academic and student life, particularly within the Sciences Po Arbitration Society, where she serves on the executive committee.

I am proud of this achievement and would like to thank all the partners at De Gaulle Fleurance for this recognition,” said Esperanza Barrón Baratech, partner at De Gaulle Fleurance. “In a context of geopolitical instability, companies are turning to arbitration—particularly by invoking international investment treaties—to protect themselves from the consequences of this instability. Another major challenge lies in the fact that securing the supply of raw materials is of strategic importance, and arbitration is a tool that serves this objective. While Europe accounts for a significant portion of international arbitration disputes, the African and South American continents are playing an increasingly important role in this area.”

We congratulate Esperanza on this promotion, which recognizes her dedication, efficiency, and team spirit,” said Jean-Baptiste Santelli, a member of the Executive Committee at De Gaulle Fleurance. “Esperanza possesses both strong technical skills and persuasive abilities in handling cases, as well as on-the-ground knowledge of strategic development areas for our private and sovereign clients. Her expertise in international arbitration, her in-depth experience in the energy and mining sectors, and her detailed knowledge of key contacts in Latin America offer our clients a high-value-added service.”
