Europrivacy : GDPR Certification Now Available to Organisations Outside the EU
How can organizations demonstrate GDPR compliance and build trust around their international data flows?
Europrivacy is a certification scheme that enables organisations to assess and certify the GDPR compliance of personal data processing activities associated with products and services, helping to build trust among customers and partners.
What’s new? The EDPB has recently approved two significant developments to the Europrivacy certification scheme: an updated version extending its scope to organisations established outside the European Economic Area (EEA) that are subject to the GDPR, and a dedicated version of the Europrivacy certification criteria designed to support international data transfers in accordance with the requirements of the GDPR.
Why does this matter? Certification is expressly provided for under the GDPR and offers organisations a recognised means of demonstrating compliance, strengthening customer and partner confidence, and supporting international data transfers.
Europrivacy has already been adopted by a number of certified organisations. One of them, the Centre d’accès sécurisé aux données (CASD), will share its experience during the webinar. CASD enables authorised users to remotely access and process confidential data in a secure environment, particularly for research, analytical and statistical purposes, including in sensitive sectors such as healthcare and defence. CASD is the first data hosting service in Europe to have obtained Europrivacy certification.
The webinar is intended for organisations both within and outside the EU that process personal data, including internationally active businesses and their partners, suppliers and service providers.
The webinar will be co-hosted by Dr Sébastien Ziegler, President of the International Committee of Experts, which oversees the Europrivacy certification scheme, alongside Cécile Théard-Jallu and Matthieu Dary, Partners, and Grégoire Froussart, Senior Lawyer, at De Gaulle Fleurance. Kamel Gadouche, Chief Executive Officer of CASD, will also share first-hand insights into CASD’s experience of obtaining Europrivacy certification.
During the webinar, we will explore:
- The GDPR certification framework, with a particular focus on Articles 42, 43 and 46.
- The origins, key features and practical operation of the Europrivacy certification scheme, including its stakeholders and beneficiaries.
- How GDPR certification can help organisations demonstrate compliance, enhance the value of their data processing activities and build trust, both within the EU and in the context of international data transfers.
- Practical insights and lessons learned from CASD’s certification journey, complemented by expert perspectives.
