Space Law: De Gaulle Fleurance contributes to the 2nd edition of the Chambers & Partners guide
De Gaulle Fleurance is pleased to announce its contribution to the 2nd edition of the “Space Law” guide, published by Chambers & Partners. In addition to authoring the France chapter, our group also drafted the introduction to this guide, providing an overview of the various countries covered and coordinating the overall content.
In a context where space is becoming a strategic, technological and economic domain, this guide offers an international perspective on the evolving legal and regulatory frameworks that accompany the growth of the space sector, driven by the significant entry of private players and the development of new uses, notably related to space data.
Cécile Théard-Jallu, Francine Le Péchon-Joubert, Frédéric Destal, Frédéric Paquet and Jean-Christophe Amy, partners, with the valuable assistance of Laetitia Cesari, Senior Legal Advisor, David Faravelon and Esperanza Barron Baratech, Senior Counsels, and Cédric Mutelet, Patent Engineer, authored the “Trends and Developments in Space Law in France” section and provided detailed insights through a thematic questionnaire.
Their contribution analyzes in particular:
-
The coordination of radio frequencies
-
Cybersecurity of orbital infrastructures and their interaction with ground equipment
-
Regulation, protection, and valorization of space data
-
Governance of extraterrestrial resources
-
Intellectual property issues in the space sector
-
Arbitration mechanisms related to space activities
-
Sustainability imperatives and international cooperation
-
Financing and taxation of space projects
-
Evolution of the European regulatory framework (EU Space Act, NIS2, Data Act, etc.)
This guide combines national and international perspectives and highlights the growing tensions between technological sovereignty, commercial ambitions, and global governance.
