De Gaulle Fleurance advises Decade Energy on the deployment of a new-generation charging infrastructure for Renault Trucks in Gennevilliers
De Gaulle Fleurance has advised Decade Energy on the deployment of a charging infrastructure at the Renault Trucks Grand Paris site in Gennevilliers.
The electrification of trucks in Europe is a major challenge for achieving the goal of reducing CO₂ emissions by 24% by 2030, with road transport representing 22% of CO₂ emissions in Europe.
In this context, Decade Energy, a provider of electrification and energy management services, has partnered with AXPO Group, one of Europe’s leading energy groups and a major player in electricity trading and market access services.
AXPO acts as an aggregator, giving Decade Energy direct access to the spot electricity market and optimizing electric truck charging for Renault Trucks, the leader in heavy transport electrification, which is expected to represent 29.7% market share in the over-16-tonne vehicle segment in France and 24.2% in the electric heavy goods vehicle segment in Europe in 2024.
Decade Energy and AXPO are developing a new-generation charging infrastructure for Renault Trucks, coupled with 110 kW / 220 kWh battery energy storage systems (BESS), fully financed and operated by Decade Energy. This installation can provide up to 360 kW of charging by combining grid electricity with a new 250 kW grid connection, supporting both vehicle charging and battery system operation.
This pilot solution allows Decade Energy to benefit from real-time electricity prices rather than fixed tariffs, which is an essential lever for optimizing charging costs at scale. With this approach, the company can control the purchase, storage, and distribution of electricity to vehicles, reducing costs while increasing operational flexibility.
This partnership with AXPO Group is a key step in the development of charging infrastructure designed as integrated energy systems, capable of combining performance, sustainability, and cost optimization, serves as a model for the electrification of truck depots across Europe.
Sylvie Perrin, partner, and Ghrislaine, senior counsel, at De Gaulle Fleurance, advised Decade Energy on the contractual aspects of the project.
“This project perfectly illustrates the challenges of the future that we are delighted to support, combining innovation, sustainability and operational efficiency,” said Sylvie Perrin.
