De Gaulle Fleurance advises lenders on Waga Energy’s €12 million refinancing of four WAGABOX® units in France
De Gaulle Fleurance advised BNP Paribas and the Crédit Agricole Group in granting a €12 million bank loan to Waga Energy to refinance four WAGABOX® units in operation.
Waga Energy, listed on Euronext Paris, is based in Eybens (Isère) and employs 250 persons. The company runs 30 units in France, Spain, Canada and the United States, with an installed capacity of over 1 TWh/year. 16 new units are under construction in several countries, reinforcing the company’s commitment to the energy transition. In 2023, sales have reached 33.3 million euros. A specialist in the production of biomethane on landfill sites, Waga Energy valorizes biogas from landfill sites using its patented WAGABOX® technology, producing biomethane that is injected into distribution networks to replace fossil gas.
The company has signed a 13.5-year loan agreement with BNP Paribas and the Crédit Agricole Group. This financing will be used to refinance four units located in Montois-La-Montagne (Moselle), Éteignières (Ardennes), Cusset (Allier) and Granges (Saône-et-Loire). The non-recourse loan was taken out by Waga Assets 2, a 100% subsidiary of Waga Energy, which owns these four facilities. The funds disbursed on signature of the loan will repay the debt associated with the construction of the four units and support Waga Energy’s cash flow for the development of new projects.
The lenders were assisted in this transaction by Sylvie Perrin, Racha Wylde, and Pierre Bouijoux, lawyers at De Gaulle Fleurance. The audit was carried out by Sylvie Perrin, with Jean-Philippe Minaud, Alexandra Nowak, and Béatrice Boisnier, lawyers at De Gaulle Fleurance.
“We’re delighted to have contributed to these innovative WAGABOX® projects,” explains Sylvie Perrin, Partner at De Gaulle Fleurance.
