Space: Cécile Gaubert joins De Gaulle Fleurance
Cécile Gaubert joins De Gaulle Fleurance as a partner, with the aim of strengthening support for space industry players in all their activities.
Cécile Gaubert has acquired a recognized knowledge of the space sector during her career. She was Head of Contracts and Claims in the Aviation & Space practice at Marsh, a global leader in insurance brokerage and enterprise risk management consulting, for 15 years. After becoming a lawyer, she launched a firm dedicated to space and practiced there for 7 years, before joining the space start-up Exotrail in 2022 as General Counsel and member of the Executive Committee.
At De Gaulle Fleurance, she assists private players in this sector in all their activities, in regulatory and contractual aspects, as well as on cybersecurity, data and intellectual property issues. She also advises public actors in the drafting of space laws and, more broadly, in the development of international space law, particularly on the African continent.
Involved in the life of this sector, she is president of the space commission of the SFDAS (French Society of Air and Space Law), member of the IISL (International Institute of Space Law), of the ECSL (European Centre of Space Law) and of the executive committee of the IDEST (Institute of Space and Telecommunications Law).
Cécile Gaubert holds a DESS in Business and European Union Law from the Jean Monnet Faculty (Paris XI – France) and a certificate in space law from the European Center for Space Law.
Driven by the desire to pass on her knowledge, Cécile teaches space law.
Cécile Gaubert, partner at De Gaulle Fleurance: “The space sector is booming, whether in Europe—where European space regulations are currently being drafted—or in Africa, which is beginning to develop this market. Investments are focused on promising projects involving small launch vehicles and satellite constellations. Another trend: market consolidation is accelerating, as players seek to reach critical mass to make their significant investments profitable, and governments look to rely on national champions in this highly strategic sector.”
Jean-Baptiste Santelli, member of the executive committee at De Gaulle Fleurance: “We are delighted to welcome Cécile Gaubert to De Gaulle Fleurance. For several years now, we have been convinced that the space sector is a sector of the future that requires a comprehensive approach mobilizing all the legal expertise we already offer our clients. Our group, deeply committed to the space sector, will be able to strengthen our services to the players in this ecosystem thanks to Cécile’s arrival.”
Cécile Gaubert will participate in the Aerospace Valley Forum in Biarritz on June 4 and 5.
