De Gaulle Fleurance supported the Collectivité de Guyane and the Société Publique d’Aménagement Numérique de la Guyane in the launch of the first direct transatlantic submarine cable linking Europe to Latin America.

This project guarantees the confidentiality of exchanges, in particular with the Kourou space base, and provides a direct connection between the French Amazon and mainland France, ensuring the Republic’s territorial digital continuity.

In a second phase, a connection to the northern Brazilian states of Amapá and Pará could also be set up to open up the region and strengthen regional cooperation between France and Brazil.

The Collectivité de Guyane and the Société Publique d’Aménagement Numérique de la Guyane were advised in this transaction by De Gaulle Fleurance (Frédéric Destal, partner).

We are proud to have enabled the installation of this first submarine cable between Europe and Latin America, which contributes to the creation of a coherent and secure sovereign digital space,” says Frédéric Destal, partner at De Gaulle Fleurance.
