De Gaulle Fleurance & Associés advised Microsoft Corporation in the context of a global strategic partnership with ORANGE allowing the latter to offer Orange TV services on the Xbox 360 console to Orange’s and Microsoft’s clients.
In France, as from April, owners of Xbox 360 subscribing to the Gold Live service and Orange TV will be able to access to thirty or so channels (TNT, but also all Orange TV channels, Cinema Series and Orange Sport…) and, on the short term, to sixty or so channels as well as VOD and Orange catch-up TV. Users could then access to a wide range of entertainments: video games, cinema, music and live TV. They will also be able to interact with their TV set without using the remote control thanks to Kinect while experiencing a new use via their voices and gestures. In the context of its partnership with Orange, Microsoft potentially broadens its contents to the 9 million Orange clients having subscribed to IP-TV. Xbox 360 will also expend its distribution network because Orange will distribute the console in 34 of its shops and on its website.
This is a first for Microsoft and Orange since their partnership associates the offer of audio-visual contents by an operator and the distribution of Xbox consoles. This partnership can therefore be considered as strategic for both companies.
Microsoft was advised by de Gaulle Fleurance & Associés in the drafting ad negotiation of this strategic partnership between Microsoft and Orange.
